RYA Coastal Skipper Course

The aim of the 5-day Coastal Skipper (CS) course, which leads to the award of the CS practical course completion certificate (rather than the CS Certificate of Competence. See CS Examination Preparation Course), is to teach the skills and techniques required to skipper a yacht safely on coastal and offshore passages by day and night. Participants should be able to navigate to CS shorebased level and be sailing to Day Skipper practical standard. Suggested pre-course experience is a minimum of 15 days seatime (including skippering), 300 miles and 8 night hours. The course is also excellent development training for club members building miles for the full Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster Certificate of Competence.

Coastal Skipper and Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Examination Preparation Courses run together.
