The core skippering course, and the one most members take. Five days, or three weekends, covering pilotage, navigation, boat handling and the business of taking charge of a yacht on short passages by day.
You should arrive with about five days at sea, 100 logged miles and four night hours. If you have been sailing with the club as crew for a season, you will have that comfortably.
Five days aboard a club yacht. £650 in summer, £600 in winter, including the boat and the RYA certificate. There is no daily sailing fee on top.
The theory is taught separately, ashore: see shorebased courses.
The next course runs from Monday 21 to Friday 25 September with Robin, shared with Competent Crew students, and one place remains at the time of writing. A £100 deposit holds it. Courses are arranged when there is demand, so register your interest with the Training Director rather than waiting for an announcement.
